Who We Are

Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation(CAC)

We have been delivering services to the Ceduna region since 1974. We offer a range of programs covering youth, social welfare, land management, arts, language and more.

The Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation acknowledges our culture and the diversity of our unique heritage in the Far West region of South Australia, including those who have passed before us and those who are present today who carry the honour to protect and maintain our customs and cultural values as the Traditional Owners and custodians of this land.

Core Objectives:

  • Engage with relevant stakeholders and service delivery providers to maximise positive training and employment outcomes for all aboriginal people in the Ceduna region.

  • Engage in partnerships and/or agreements with stakeholders to promote economic benefits for the organisation and its members.

  • Support the Aboriginal residents of the Ceduna region in pursuing activities that strengthen and reinforce cultural, artistic, social and other well-being initiatives.

  • Design and implement strategies that meet the needs of Aboriginal youth to active a better quality of life.

  • Strengthen and support activities that build mutually respectful relationships between the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community.

  • Provide opportunity for Aboriginal people in the Ceduna region to fully participate in all aspects of community life as enjoyed by the wider community.

  • Support Aboriginal people in the Ceduna region who may be experiencing financial hardship, physical or mental illness, homelessness and other challenges.

  • Operate and maintain a gift fund to be known as ‘Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation Gift Fund’ in accordance with the requirements of the Australian Taxation Office.

History

In April 1997, the Far West Aboriginal Progress Association (established 1974) amalgamated with the Ceduna Aboriginal Community Council to form the Ceduna Aboriginal Community Council Inc.

The Ceduna Aboriginal Community Council Inc. then joined the Tjutjunaku Worka Tjuta Inc. (established 1989) officially amalgamating in July 2000. In July 2012 the Tjutjunaku Worka Tjuta Inc. became the Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation.

Our Logo

The West Coast Mint Bush (Prostanthera Calycina) grows only in certain areas of the Eyre Peninsula and Far West of South Australia.

This native bush has been listed as a threatened species by the International Union of Conservation, Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN).

Selected as our logo it represents strength, resilience, connection to land and survival.
